Varnasrama Research Activities

In one of the Ishtagoshtis meetings, it was decided that each devotee will take up a Varnasrama Research Activities in the field of their interest. SSKBK forms the best arena for practical experimentation of these research works and taking systematic guidance from Vedic resources. Few areas of research that involved discussions and experimenting were as follows:

1. Locally grown soap-nut variety tested for cleansing property. To study different varieties of soap-nuts and list down their utilities, names etc. Results were excellent and SSKBK is self sufficient in regards to washing clothes now.

2. Go Ark production with fuel wood or Cow dung cakes. It is known that for preparing Go Ark by distillation process, constant heat is required. Otherwise the Earthern Pots used to make the Go Ark breaks. An easy modern answer is use of LPG Gas or Gobar gas. We intend to research as to how to use alternatives as different fire woods or Cow dung cakes such as to make the process simple and self sufficient.

3. Search for Oil Ghani: With a casual hello and conversation with a local person, little did we know that our team is heading towards acquiring a traditional Oil Ghani run by Ox-power. Just 10 years back this art was still alive while it was completely eliminated to its extinction now. Remains are visible at many places while elsewhere it is just memories. Taking clue from one person to another our team tracked few individuals (of different villages) possessing and knowing the art of constructing a new Oil Ghani for SSKBK. More news to be held as surprise for next issue.

4. Khadi: In discussion with a Government official regarding establishing a non-profit khadi project at SSKBK, there are positive signs for such a proposal. However, since things with Government moves at a Snail's pace with many paperwork and it many times does not yield fruit. This news hence is just informative as an area of Varnasrama Research Team Concern and not affirmative project yet.

Areas we are expecting to work for in the coming days are:

1. Oil seeds and Oil extraction booklet production (meant to be published by VBT)
2. Rain Water Preservation and Management at SSKBK

Oops! A wrong experiment! One devotee's experiment of tasting a wild fruit left him realize that very sloka of Upanishad (Kathopanishad 1.2.20) that "there is a Bird (Atma) sitting on a branch and eating all fruits (due to independence) while another bird (Paramatma) is sitting on the same branch in an ever peaceful mood and watching!", especially more so that it reflected in classes and realizations! The secretion of the fruit which left the skin burnt has now healed almost after more than a month. However, most importantly, what we realized is this: The extract of these fruits make an excellent pesticide!

Haribol!
